applessmillion's News

Posted by applessmillion - December 30th, 2015

Well, looks like I'll be posting another post for this year (said this'd be the final one, but oh well).

New Year's, New Update for Island Builder

Since I plan on having this New Year's post be something quite long, let's get this Island Builder update log out of the way!

Island Builder 1.1

  • Added 8 new transition blocks!
    5433184_145152638811_Capture.png
  • Made Grids a bit different!
  • 2 New Islands showing off some of the new blocks!
  • Some minor but needed optimizations for Android.

Looking into adding different tabs to Blocks, for better organization and more room, so keep your eyes peeled.

More updates will follow into 2016.

Merry Christmas or Christmas Eve depending where you're at! Today I've decided to release a bunch of updates, releases, and stuff for today. I'd have to say Idle Game Maker recieved the best facelift from all of this, but I'll get into that below. Check out the changelog for all updated games below!

5433184_145102087322_igm.png

CLEARED ALL SAVEDATA. I made the decison to clear all savedata as the game was already heavily exploited. This is not the sole reason I chose to do this. Major aspects of this game has changes in this update, and it would be difficult to keep all old data. If you finished the game previously, it'd also be extremely simple to gain the newer achievements, while avoiding the newer features and gameplay the new additions have added. Sorry if this angers anyone, but it's for the best.
Idle game maker is also now an Android App! Download today!

Additions:

  • New language! Actionscript 2.0!
  • New Language! Lua!
  • New Language! Python!
  • New Language! C++!
  • New Language! Swift (Mac)!
  • New Language! Visual Basic (Windows)!
  • New Variable! Audience - grow your audience and profits will flow!
  • New Variable! Appeal - up your appeal and your audience will follow!
  • Added Newgrounds URL button to Desktop
  • Added Games URL button to Desktop
  • Added Android App URL button to Desktop
  • Added programming language next to platforms (applies to Android, Mac, iOS, Windows).
  • 2 New Scoreboards!
  • 6 New Metals!

Changes:

  • Changed Newgrounds short description
  • Changed starting money from $45 to $50
  • Minimum time till profit is 5 seconds
  • Changed base profit from $5 to $10
  • Changed font of most of the game's text
  • Made "Requires" in shop more red
  • Modified some buttons to have a mouse-over description
  • Removed shop/stats button from respective pages
  • Re-organized shop page. Much cleaner.
  • Temp. Removed deleting data.
  • Removed useless desktop items.
  • Re-positioned desktop items
  • Changed Log to link to my Newgrounds news feed
  • Balanced costs. Wow, these were chaotic.
  • Changed icon of ActionScript 3.0 Metal

New game! Island Builder! Build your own island with blocks and decorations! This game has been released on Kongregate for over 4 years, and has been the most updated game I've made (Just been lacking as of recent). This is probably the biggest update, as it finally adds a lot of new features. Although this game is just being released on Newgrounds, here's what's new from the Kongregate version.

Additions:

  • Android App! Check it out with the link at the end of this section!
  • New grid layout! Select a block then click on the grid to place it! 33x15 blocks, so 495 grids in total!
  • 4 new visitable islands!
  • New "Selected" button on header. Shows what you currently have selected!
  • 15 New blocks! (This took way more time than you'd think)
  • 3 New Decorations!
  • New music!

Changes:

  • Forced grid layout. Blocks are no longer drag-and-drop.
  • Slightly modified header
  • Changed some fonts around
  • Bigger sized stage

Fixes:

  • Fixed blocks overlapping with GUI (still an issue with Decorations)

This game also has an Android Application!

P.S. This game is simply a sandbox tool, I'll hopefully be adding onto this periodically, as it's very simple to do. I want to add a savegame feature to this, but ran into issues a few days ago. But expect more in the coming days for content, and possibly sharing your creations!

Rolling out the Museum finally! This update also slightly changes how data is loaded from local saves. Tested and seems to work fine, but comment if something is weird.

Additions:

  • Museum! Added artifacts to buy and unlock!
  • 6 New Achievements!

Changes:

  • Added trophy for Best City achievement. Wait ~10 seconds if already named this after launching your city.

Fixes:

  • Modified loading of blocks to hopefully have less visual glitching

This game also has an Android Application!

Changes:

  • Removed Newgrounds Scoreboard at end
  • Moved results page around a bit
  • Made sound (ever so slightly) quieter

Idle City has been unpublished. It will be back later tonight along with the return of Idle Game Maker.

2015 is 10 days away from ending, and yet, I expect this to be the best time of year for content I publish. I've wanted to keep this special Christmas update secret, but well, I suck at keeping big things secret. I won't go into details, but just know - 2015 isn't over. I will be posting something on Christmas day, then another thing around New Years, more or less of a year in review post. I'm just hoping Newgrounds' doesn't have too short of a character cap on these things.

So I never really threw a version number on this game, like ever, so let's call this little addition/bugfix 2.0

Made resetting game button way smaller. No more accidental clicks (hopefully)
Modified size and placement of various things.
Modified Capacity upgrade again. Discount Upgrade will no longer affect it.
Updated some graphics. Looks better!
Patches are MUCH easier to implement. Yay (for me at least :P)
Removed website button
Added version num

Bugfixes:
Modified mute button to be a working mute button. I promise.
Undefined values are now fixed.

Tis the season to ring, ring, ring, and ring some more, because that's exactly what Jingle Clicker is about!

This is my attempt at a clicker game. Yes, a clicker game, meaning it's time to destroy your mouse a bit. Click the bell to get Karma, which you'll need to get a lot of to get on that Nice List Santa likes to talk about. But don't fret! Santa will be giving you at least one present per month, to help you with your ringing duties.

What are present's used for, you may ask? Think of them as a box if mystery. Open one, and you may find XP, Karma, discounts, Character Points, and a whole lot more.

What can I buy with Karma?

Cosmetics and upgrades to get you to that large amount of Karma you'll be needing. Maybe you wanna go festive with a Christmas Tree. We got that. Some lights that blink? We got that too. Oh yeah, these "cosmetics" also come with bonuses and metal unlocks, so they're worth buying.

My Karma Bar Fluctuates

Oh yes it does. It goes off of your current Karma. You can't just lose Karma and expect all of that Karma you've earned and spent to keep going towards Santa's list, right? (Go with it if it does keep going with it this game turns into a quick 5-10 minute click-fest :) )

There will also be no mute button added. Feel and hear the Christmas joy with this mute-free game ^_^

Candy Whacker has now been released.

Looking for a challenge this Halloween? Try out Candy Whacker! Whack treat bags and get a great score for candy, which you can use to upgrade your game and unlock more levels! This is really the first game I've created with an official end (finishing all quests), so tell me how that goes too!

There is an Android app, too!

It'll be available here when it's published.

And of course, if there's anything weird you notice, report it to me via PM or in the comments! Suggestions are welcome as well!

Posted by applessmillion - October 20th, 2015

Candy Whacker will release within the next 24 hours. Probably within the next 2 hours.

It's finally done! All 34 quests are written, 6 levels made, upgrades maxed, and everything is set to go. Except for the Android App, which is what will be worked on right after writing this. I hope to publish the Flash version while it's still being reviewed (risky but it should work). That's really all I have to say for this, keep checkin for an official post for when I really do release it (I'll be front page posting the announcement, so it won't be completely hidden).

As for the next month

I've realized I've really neglected the games that have gotten me this far, and want to spend the most part of next month doing only bugfixes. I have a plan for a Thanksgiving game already, and have planned it to be simple so it won't become such a large project like Candy Whacker has, where I've had to completely neglect attention to Idle City when it really is having some serious problems right now (if you think the Flash is bad, the app is dreadful...). I plan to start with Idle City, fixing the bugs and issues where they are currently, then moving back to my older projects. I know Electric Rubber and Electric Rubber 2 are still being played (I do like looking at those statistics..), so I know the need to fix them is there. So here's my plan for November:

November 1-18: Bugfixing

November 19-20: Personal stuff (Friends birthday, doing irl shizzle, etc. etc.)

November 21-27: Work on Codename Turkey Run

Why don't I get started this week? Well, Halloween! I'll be goin to a party this weekend, and I may be out with a few peeps on the legit Halloween weekend. Busy next few days for me!

Anyways, back to coding, and having some fun with the Google dev shizzle.. yey

P.S. I will probably be ignoring all PMs over the weekend and into next week. College assignments and shizzle is getting demanding then. I'll also be meeting with an advisor to plan my colleges next semester. So if you have something to report, PM me ASAP or expect a reply around the first of November.
